What can I say about these Articles? They have been left almost as originally published, just cut where something very temporary or irrelevant was mentioned and occasionally the wording polished to sharpen a point. Also there is the occasional change of format where web presentation demands.
Written for many editors, reasons, purposes, causes, and over many years, I write concerning things about which I feel strongly. I enjoy very diverse subjects, the majority of which are not connected with music, so references to all sorts of things creep in all the time. I make no apology for this any more than I would for an 'odd' chord in a piece of music if that chord is the one I want.
Therefore, Dear Reader, you'll need a sense of fantasy occasionally and if something is puzzling it is probably a joke. Everyday life is full of so much nonsense, not to say rubbish, that I prefer to let fly directly at a target than pussyfoot around, even if it means sometimes being undiplomatic. I can be reasonable with the best of them but I trust my instinct for the most important things in life.
So, if you read further, you take the chance of being annoyed or exasperated, but I hope amused, interested, and sometimes curious enough to look further into the subject being treated, in order to develop your own thoughts.
